Workout Of The Day - 29th April 2010

Did a great workout after finding some pretty cool songs to amp up my WOD playlist

I like this WOD alot, its a nice routine!

Today's my Rest Day after a series of days of working out - bumping up my fitness levels to an extent where I can sense the difference in my last run and sprint session.

Will aim to hit Cross Fit Hub both this Sat & Sun - hope I make it!

Workout Of The Day - 27th April 2010

Did a good run and some sprints for today's WOD



WOD
  • Run 1.5km
  • 4 sets of 100m sprints
  • 3 sets of 4x20m shuttle sprints
  • 4 sets of 5 pull ups
  • 2 sets of 10 parallel bar dips

I like how Cross Fit Hub challenges my limits and today it felt significantly less 'painful' to push myself - I ran my 1.5km harder, my 100m sprints were much less sluggish too.

I hope I can manage to go down to Cross Fit Hub for both this Saturday & Sunday!

Hit the beach for some beach volleyball - though a short session, it was great to get into the sun again!

Made it down to Cross Fit Hub for a WOD. I love how Feng Yi does mobility work as part of her Dynamic Warm Up - necessary to wake me up on a late Sunday morning.

Tabata's with 45 sec on and 15 sec off is more endurance, especially with Ring Rows, but its a appropriately long period of time - challenging, tiring, overall awesome.

Was down to ECP for some inline blading after that. Nice weather, but just felt tired - it must be the WOD!

Nice sores on my hams and my lower back, and definitely not as sore as the previous WOD session.

Workout Of The Day - 23rd April 2010

Took yesterday as a Rest Day - and today its back to the barbell.

WOD
12 sets of

  • Deadlift, followed by,
  • Power Hang Clean, followed by,
  • Front Squat, followed by,
  • Push Press
  • 10 push ups
I am quite fond of this arrangement, the barbell moves from one lift to another.

And on a happy note - its off the Siloso Beach tomorrow for some volleyball!

Workout Of The Day - 21st April 2010

Did a sprint session today with pull-ups

WOD

  • Run 1.5km
  • 5 sets of 100m sprints
  • 75 pull ups
And a secondary schoolboy came up to the same monkey-bar that I was on and began doing bar muscle-ups!

I will attempt to use his methods the next time I hit the bars!

Workout Of The Day - 20th April 2010

Took yesterday as my Rest Day - did some minimal barbell work - practiced the Hang Power Clean again, in an attempt to the the 'shrug' part of the lift right. Still something is amiss, but at least it feels less awkward now than the very first time I tried it.

Today's workout is similar to Saturday's WOD at Cross Fit Hub.

WOD
5 sets of

  • 4 Hang Power Cleans
  • 4 Front Squats
  • 4 Push Presses
  • 20 Push Ups
 Finally, I've overcome much of the Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) largely due to Saturday's and Sunday's workout. Hopefully the weather stays clear tomorrow evening so I can proceed for another HIIT session. Its about time to get back to the Rings too!



Sleds. Running hard against a load. This is something I seriously want to try and be good at. Just brute strength and pent-up anger.

I reckon there's nothing better than coming home and doing sprints with this shit-load strapped to your body harness.

Workout Of The Day - 18th April 2010

Had to give Cross Fit Hub a miss today, so I made it up with my own workout - run, sprints, jumps and some bodyweights.

Cross Fit Hub's WOD reminded me how long since I last ran & sprinted - nearly 2 months!


WOD
  • Run 2.0km
  • 6 sets of 100m sprints
  • 10 standing broad jumps
  • 40 pull ups
  • 30 parallel bar dips



    Strong Girls
    Why am I bringing this up? I keep hearing ladies say "I know my body and if I lift heavy, I get big".Wrong! if you lift heavy you get strong...bottom line. If you eat to get big, then and only then will you get big. Lifting heavy actually aids in losing fat. So gals, if you want to sit down and go over the science behind this come ask me. Otherwise just take my word for it and start lifting heavy with no worries! And an added bonus is that strong girls are sexy!

    Understand two things: 1.You are what you EAT 2. You cannot work off what you EAT

    Workout Of The Day - 17th April 2010

    Went down to Cross Fit Hub - did some barbell work today - and its really nice to have the Stadium MRT opening today. Plus, this Circle Line's trains are much colder - it was freezing in the morning.

    AMRAP for 15min
    • 3 power hang cleans
    • 3 front squats
    • 3 push presses

    The Power Hang Cleans has made my upper back really sore. Nice. Will be adding this to my WOD's at home.

    I kind of like the Dynamic Warm Up - and it also made me realized how long I've not been running/sprinting/jumping - nearly 2 months. It felt like a workout itself. Man, I need to get more HIIT/sprint sessions over the next few weeks to get my sprints and lungs back in shape.


    And gosh, I was so hungry even after lunch - the moment I reached home I helped myself to more dragon fruit and an orange.

    Workout Of The Day - 16th April 2010

    The weekend is here finally! Heading down tomorrow to Cross Fit Hub, and hoping that Feng Yi doesn't kill me with her burpees again.

    Am quite excited to get there by the new Stadium MRT - taking a transfer bus from City Hall MRT feels shitty when your weekends are short and precious!

    Workout Of The Day - 12th, 13th, 14th April 2010

    Spent the good few last days onboard the rig working out - namely with the Smith machine and the EZ barbell (which in my opinion, is difficult to carry and hoist)

    And in these few days I've done mostly bench presses, pull ups, and overhead presses.

    I'm back onshore now (pretty much for good!) and so I'll be working up my fitness again - my IPPT window has opened and I'm going for another Gold!

    No work this weekend so I'm going to row with the Keppel Dragons this Saturday and head to Cross Fit Hub this Sunday! Might try to squeeze in a roller-blading session too - will have to see how things goes!


    And on a side-note, there are like 10 dragonfruits in the fridge, alongside packets of pears and oranges and a comb of bananas.

    This is good food.

    The equipment on the gym onboard has finally been set up - and the most utilized machine I use there is the Smith Machine - for bench presses and pull ups.

    Sore, so sore now, but feeling great. I should be down for a WOD at Cross Fit Hub tomorrow!

    Workout Of The Day - 4th April 2010

    Its back to Cross Fit Hub again - no sun and all rain - so it was indoors for the Kettlebell session. Learnt alot of new stuff today!

    Warm Up
    10 minutes AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)

    • 10 Russian KB Swings
    • 10 Goblet Squats
    • 10 Around-The-World's
    • 10 KB Squats
    WOD
    20 minutes EMOTM (Every Minute On The Minute) - Right, Then Left

    • Clean
    • Squat
    • Press

    Oh, and I used to pink kettlebell today! Now I'm sore in the glutes, the scapula, the lower back, the hams, the quads, and the calves from that day's sprints. Sore to the touch - and loving it!

    I am going to have a hard time climbing up the vertical ladder from the pontoon all the way up to the main deck when I reach the rig tomorrow morning.

    Workout Of The Day - 2nd & 3rd April 2010

    Had good sun on Good Friday - hit some laps in the pool to soak up the sun, with my calves feeling sore from the previous day's sprints.

    And on my way home I realize again how big a sport Ultimate Frisbee has become - a game was in-progress at the field just next to my apartment.

    Went to Cross Fit Hub on Saturday - did a workout with two Level One trainers - and I was struggling through the WOD right from the start. I guess as long as I've got to be offshore my fitness levels will hit rock-bottom.

    Workout Of The Day - 1st April 2010

    Its back onshore for the long weekend! Haven't run for the whole time that I was offshore so I was pretty motivated to do a run and sprints.

    WOD

    • Run 1.5km
    • 3 sets of 100m sprints
    I'm de-conditioned from all that time offshore - will be using this weekend to get back shape - Tomorrow will be a swim day; Cross Fit WOD this Saturday, and if I'm not busted by that yet, I will paddle with the Keppel Dragons; Sunday will be paddling with AlumNUS. I think I will return to work on Monday totally drained!


    There's another Box opening in Singapore - Cross Fit Hub. This one opens weekends. Attractive.
