Back to barbell lifts, and finally, a good 2 day of 'rest' at an external course tomorrow & Friday! Lunch & Tea Breaks provided - I wonder what kind of food will they serve or will I end up eating junk?

Workout Of The Day - 28th June 2010

Back to the running track for today's WOD.

Pooped out tired from working through the weekend. Thankfully I have external courses this Thur & Fri, so I might pop down to Cross Fit Hub on Friday! If not for the fact I'll be working through this weekend as well, I'd be down for both days!

Workout Of The Day - 26th June 2010

Made it to the stadium for a (pretty short) WOD after work. All that work is really draining me!



WOD
  • Run 400m
  • 15 pull ups
  • 15 burpees
  • Run 400m
  • 15 pull ups
  • 15 burpees
  • 3 sets of 100m sprints
  • 2 handstands

Am also currently practicing my handstands, so whenever the opportunity permits, I will handstand! I am so glad that I am able to flip into one pretty easily now!

Workout Of The Day - 23rd & 24th June 2010

Yesterday was a long day at work - so had a quick workout on the way home at the pull up bar.

WOD

  • 20 pull ups
  • 20 parallel bar dips

And fortunately, today's a shorter day at work! The New Balance Outlet at IMM has some pretty decent dri-fit tops, going pretty cheap. Might get a piece someday! Comes in handy for my workouts!

Went heavier on today's workout - back to barbell lifts!

  • 25 deadlifts
The Clean & Press/Jerk is quite an amazing lift, next to the barbell thruster. Hopefully I'll master the Snatchs, and more Cleans! These Olympic lifts are really gruelling!

Workout Of The Day - 21st June 2010

Today is run & sprint & pull up & dips WOD day. It always feel shitty getting into the WOD right after waking up on the transit home from work, all groggy and sore. But the feeling right after it, and in the ensuing hours - heightened sense of awareness & alertness & elevated moods!

Back to basics with a PVC pipe - always practice good form and full range-of-motion (ROM)

  • 20 parallel bar dips
I am so hungry in the morning when I reach work nowadays (after a cup of coffee and 2-3 servings of fruit at home), I think tomorrow I shall have a second breakfast at work (probably an egg or two)

Workout Of The Day - 20th June 2010

Made it down to Cross Fit Hub today and did the 'Mary' WOD! Not entirely tiring, but I am glad I am able to do handstands against the wall now. Having learnt this skill only means more variety to my workouts! Also pretty amazed I could do pistol squats - the last I tried that months ago - it was entirely impossible! I only have Cross Fit to thank!



Eating Nasi Lemak (not my choice) for dinner really gets me very tired. No wonder everyone just feels so darn sleepy after lunch at work - they eat alot of rice!

Rest Day - 19th June 2010

6 days in a row of less than 7 hours of sleep a day, and working out after work equates to crashing out after work on the bed.



And after all that good sleep was good dinner - totally grain free (no corn too) that comes with a nice cup of brewed coffee. Paleo-eating has slowly made its way into my daily home cooked meals. Already, 3 whole chickens were bought from the grocers! I'm exploring alternating that with pork chops, and salmon. As long I go grain free I feel better, though I'm pretty sure its just a placebo effect for now.

It's off to Cross Fit Hub tomorrow. Time to lift heavy & hard again!

Workout Of The Day - 18th June 2010

Today is a light workout!

This is not a light workout - running around the block with a weight overhead!

  • 10 clean & presses
 Its a busy day at work tomorrow, shall see if I can manage a run & sprints to get ready for IPPT. And it'll be off to Cross Fit Hub this Sunday and looking for more sports apparel!



I really enjoyed yesterday's (almost) Paleo dinner! With 3 whole chickens in the fridge and pretty cheap from the grocers, I think I can remove more & more grain from my food!

Workout Of The Day - 17th June 2010

Its back to barbell again today - worked on the same big, fundamental moves - the thruster, deadlift, and clean & jerk.

The split jerk after the clean (centre) - something I just can't do well - I need more practice!

 Today's dinner was almost close to Paleo minus the corn - more than half a chicken, zucchini and carrots. And it is amazingly nice, and I don't feel sluggish after the meal!

Workout Of The Day - 16th June 2010

Its back to barbells today - and I'm still pretty sore in my hams from Sunday's "Grace" WOD. Its amazing what working out for time can do to your body. And sometimes rip parts of skin out too. I tend to tear the base of my thumbs when I go overhead somehow.

I really enjoy doing the C&J's as well as hang power cleans - and trying to shrug in as exaggerated a manner as possible to make sure the power is drawn from the scapula and back as the bar ascends to the clean position.

Workout Of The Day - 13th June 2010

Its WOD at Cross Fit Hub today. Really loved 'Grace' alot. There is something about clean & jerks (I did a push press instead of a push jerk after the clean) which I really enjoy. And dumping the weights makes it feel very empowering. Add those to the great loud music - lifting felt really nice today!



For WOD 1 - I came in at 5min 44sec. Nice!

It's back to run & sprint & pull ups & dips or assisted ring muscle ups tomorrow again after work!

Rest Day - 12th June 2010

Today is Rest Day - with a good movie and a healthy dose of sporting goods over at Velocity mall.

Saw tonnes of Vibram 5 fingers, nice Nike shades (didn't know Nike made shades),2XU compression technology and plenty of other compression tights all around (like Zeet). These are all really amazing - I should be able to overdose on these in Houston in 2 months time!



Also spent quite awhile watching competitors over at Urban Attack just outside of Velocity



And today is the first time I ever tried purple colored dragonfruit and I must say its much nicer than its white-fleshed cousin.

Tomorrow's back to Cross Fit Hub after missing it last weekend. And Coach has kindly helped me got the SAF Infantry Section Commander's Bag - perfect for putting weights inside for weighted pull ups and weighted dips.

I can't wait to pummel my legs with the Prowler with the folks at Cross Fit.

The last 2 days I was feeling under the weather due to some 'withdrawal symptoms'! But then I got my dose back and now I'm back on my feet, at 95% recovery!

Workout Of The Day - 6th June 2010

Missed Crossfit session today, made it up by having some pull ups & dips at the nearby park before heading off to my errands.

Being at the bottom of a dip is the start of everything tiring & nice!

WOD
  • 50 pull ups
  • 50 parallel bar dips
 Shall try to do another run/sprint/jump session later in the evening!

Okay made it to the evening workout! Am really glad because I finally made it to an assisted ring muscle up - in order to compensate for the transition, I made a jump and pulled myself into the bottom of the dip position, before fully locking out the elbows and lowering back into the bottom of the dip position before I bail out of the muscle up. And it got better with practice so I am pretty happy to have done 30 assisted muscle ups!

Nice cool weather in the afternoon means time to nap! Yesterday's workout was quite tiring.

Today's a rest day with lots of sleep! Plus took the opportunity to work on skills - the overhead squat.

Rest Day - 3rd & 4th June 2010

Had to work real late yesterday, so it was a workout at the monkey bar at the neighbourhood right after work.

WOD

  • 50 pull ups
  • 50 parallel bar dips
  • 1 lap through the Monkey Bar, with 1 pull up on every rung.


Today is a pretty good day at a vendor's seminar over at Raffles Marina - lunch was good! Almost fully natural foods - salmon, smoked salmon, garden salad, Terriyaki chicken, watermelon and rock melon!

    Rest Day - 1st June 2010

    Today is my Rest Day, despite the initial plans. True enough, nearly 5 days of workout, this rest is overdue. Crashed on the bed right after work for a few hours, now I'm more than ready for more hard lifting and fast feet sprints for the next few days.

     Crawling. Very primal. Very tiring also!

    Tomorrow will be a late day at work, and late days means by the time I'm home for my workout, the moon's already out, which coincides with my best workout time! Shall do a run, sprints, followed by bar training over at the pull up bar and parallel bar!

    Here's a good video on Overhead Squats. I really should work on it before I get thrashed by it at Cross Fit Hub.

    Workout Of The Day - 1st June 2010

    Its back to barbell work today after yesterday's run in the drizzling rain. I am so going to rip another hole in my left palm if I continue lifting harder and more.

    Might take an off day tomorrow. Or might do another run and followed by another long session at the chin up and parallel bars!
