Workout Of The Day - 24th January 2011



Not much of a workout at all today, just enjoying the soreness from yesterday's Fight Gone Bad WOD.

WOD
  • 40 pull ups

Fight Gone Bad is one of the CrossFit benchmark WODs. It was designed to simulate the time domain of a mixed martial arts bout of five minutes of work followed by one minute of rest. It has been used in 3 and 5 round versions. The workout first appeared on CrossFit.com on 1 December 2004, although a hint of the workout appeared as just a snapshot image on 7 October 2003. It was so named after BJ Penn, a professional mixed martial artist, remarked that it was like a "fight gone bad" when asked how it compared to a real fight.[1]

Workout Of The Day - 23rd January 2011



Made it down to Cross Fit Hub today for the WOD - another Fight Gone Bad WOD - amazing stuff. Didn't know until today that FGB style WOD's were derived from Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) training.

3 rounds, 1min rest in between each round, 1 min per station, consisting of:

  • Sumo Deadlift High Pulls

Rest day today - I really need to catch up on sleep - 13 hours on the job every weekday, workouts at night - Saturday is for me to rest up so that I can train hard on Sunday's Cross Fit WOD.

    • Run up to 9th floor
    • Run up to 6th floor
    • Run up to 3rd floor


    WOD
    10 rounds for time
    • 3 thrusters
    • 6 pull ups
    • 9 push ups (Cross Fit Games 2010 standard)
    Wheelbarrow with your partner in between each round.


    I have just purchased a door mounted pull up bar, and my WOD's at home will take 1 big step forward from tomorrow onwards!

    Workout Of The Day - 15th January 2011

     Is this really 'too bulky' for a lady?

    Had my run cut short today as it started to pour again during the middle of my run, just when it had stopped raining not too long ago. Guess that will mean no Sentosa / swimming until this monsoon season clears up.

     Its WOD tomorrow at Cross Fit Hub - and then I'm getting the door mounted pull up bar too - to bang out the back, and so that I can use the (under-utilized) gymnastic rings at home too!

    Made it down for WOD at Cross Fit Hub - a really tiring WOD it was. The kettlebells used in the Man-Makers were just too, heavy.

    Today's WOD is more like a primer for tomorrow's session at Cross Fit Hub. Am really glad that I don't have work beyond 4.30pm on a Saturday, and even more glad that I'm not working tomorrow. Overdue rest - I'll try to soak in at least a good 9-10 hours of sleep tonight.

      Rest Day - 5th January 2011



      Am feeling better today but the cumulative lack of sleep made me go back home earlier from work today. It sure feels great. Did a really light workout, so today counts more like a Rest Day - getting more sleep.

      Workout Of The Day - 4th January 2011



      Been working through the weekend, and into the late nights, so I fell pretty ill and went on working - hence it took me nearly 4 days to recover from this bout of sickness. Today I'm pretty much back on my feet and I'm able to have my WOD again!
